Blackstone Edge Studios updates Website

Updates to by BSE, including new portraits

When Kathia Emery of changed her own look – adding bangs – she realized she needed to update her website to reflect her current look. The same went for her blog. It, too, she decided, needed updating by widening the area used for her posts, and enlarging the size of the pictures of  her current projects on it.  She also had a new set of photos to add to the residential portion of her website. We @ Blackstone Edge Studios, having created the original site and blog, were excited to assist in this makeover.

Kathia finds that the addition of a blog to her site keeps her clientele abreast of her current work and has proven useful in bringing in new work. So glad we could assist!

Check out the new look here.

Blackstone Edge Band Performing at the Coaster Theatre!

It’s official! The Blackstone Edge Band bus is headed to Cannon Beach, where the band is appearing at The Coaster Theatre on Saturday, April 27th… We know it’s official, because we’ve already gotten multiple requests from fans to hop on the bus (even those with back aches)… Reason? They hear there’s going to be a YouTube video made of the journey, as well as good Kraft services for the roadies.

The Sprinter we had in mind is too small. We’ll have to rent a second one for the camera crew and hangers on…

We’re adding an original song by yours truly. But more on that later.

Come to the Coast to join in the fun, filled with music, film clips, raffled artwork, and the fragrance of the fresh sea air!!!

Blackstone Edge Studios launches Neighborhood Partners New WordPress Site

BSE launches WordPress site for ©Blackstone Edge Studios

Blackstone Edge Studios is very excited to announce the successful recreation of Neighborhood Partners, LLC, flash site into a WordPress site. The changeover means that our clients’ website will now be entirely readable/visible on IPads, IPhones and Smart phones – something that flash sites are not easily viewed upon. The migration also enables this worthy company, which builds affordable housing in cities like Davis, Woodland and Dixon, California, to move up its placement on Search Engines like Google. The site is also physically larger, thus illustrating the quality of their work on a grand scale – as represented by various images by Blackstone Edge Studios.

Visit the site and see for yourselves!

Philip Clayton-Thompson of Blackstone Edge Studios Keynote Speaker

Philip Clayton-Thompson gives 2012 Keynote Address @ Portland Art Institute

I had the honor of being asked to give the Keynote Address at Friday’s 2012 Summer graduation ceremonies for the Art Institute of Portland, held at the Governor Hotel.  I have, as co-owner of Blackstone Edge Studios, had a near decade-long relationship with AI.  The thrust of my speech was the need for lots of “Energy” to pursue a career in the creative arts.  I quoted the great British actor, Sir Lawrence Olivier, who when asked by the BBC interviewer, “What was the most important element of becoming a good actor? Was it learning lines, understanding the character, working with playwrights? Directors? Colleagues? ”  answered simply, “Oh, no, dear boy! Just Energy, Energy, Energy… Otherwise you might as well go home and watch the telly!”

Art Institute Dean Kelly congratulates PCT on his speech

Congratulations again to all the talented graduates, professors, deans – including Dean Jason Clary – and President Moscato and Dean Kelly. Thank you for having me!

Austin-Hitchcock Galveston Master - POSSIBLE V&V Cover by BSE - no doubt w/o fan!

We’ve got our fingers crossed here @ Blackstone Edge Studios for a third cover in our recent run of covers… BSE, which now has 166 covers to its name, is unusual because unlike most photographers who garner covers, ours are spread over a diverse spectrum of magazines, everything from Coastal Living to Futon Life to Softball Magazine!

This possible cover is for the second issue of Vintage & Victorian magazine. First came the call for covers. We were rushing to a shoot for Garrison Hullinger Interior Design (prior to his trip to the Bay Area to speak at a and Rejuvenation Opening). Nevertheless, I took time to make a quick scan of our vast Victorian library for a suitable cover and sent a bunch over to the head honchos for their approval. Ironically, we have two great articles already in that magazine due out shortly (see previous post). But V&V has set a new precedent… choosing a cover that’s NOT in the magazine!!!

Forgot cell phone. Our trusty Technical Guru, Marshal Serna, arrived at the studio. The magazine wanted a hi-res of one of the shots I sent from the home of Cathy & Steve Austin – then of Galveston, Texas… a long story in itself, that began with Hurricane Ike devastating this beautiful home and the Austin-Hitchcock’s valiant efforts to save it and return it to a glory it probably had never witnessed prior to the “deluge!”

Finally, Marshal got through to Garrison on his cell. The hi-res photo was successfully uploaded. And now the wait begins. Word has it that three possible covers were chosen. Only two made it to the printer for testing. And the Austin-Hitchcock bedroom was one of them.  FINGERS COLLECTIVELY CROSSED EVERYONE… Nothing would please us more than to see the beautiful restoration by Steve & Cathy Austin-Hitchcock honored on a national cover. Here’s to their incredible efforts! Bravi tutti!
